The latest edition of the Africa club rankings is out and surprisingly, some Ghanaian clubs are doing very well whiles others seem not to find their rythm.
Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is the only Ghanaian side still ranked in the top 50 clubs in Africa and have this time climbed up four places as North African giants remain firmly and literally at the pinnacle of the continent.
According to FootballDataBase’s quarterly ranking report after the latest update being November 28, 2021, record eight-time champions Al Ahly top the standings ahead of South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns who sit second.
Zamalek have dropped one place from second to the third position with Tunisian giants Esperance overtaking five-time champions league and two-time Confederation Cup Congolese winners, TP Mazembe on the fourth and fifth positions respectively.

With the exception of Sundowns, TP Mazembe and AS Vita Club, the top 10 features seven clubs from North Africa once again.
Asante Kotoko is the highest-ranked Ghanaian side, who are 31st on the rankings after climbing four places up.
The Porcupines are followed by AshantiGold who have dropped from 65th to 69th and then Ghananian champions Hearts of Oak who have dropped from 76th to 81st on the continent.
Aduana Stars are 78th on the continent after making one progress with Medeama maintaining their 98th position on the African continent. Berekum Chelsea have also moved from 114th to 119th position.
Division club Hearts of Lions are maintaining their 157th position on the rankings with Premier League side Legon Cities occupying 211th position after moving 204 in the previous rankings.
Another lower-tier side New Edubiase are on the 214th position after moving two places up whilst Ebusua Dwarfs are ranked 221 in Africa after moving one place up.
