In a historic turn of events, the Adonten division of the Denkyira kingdom, separated for over seventy years, has been formally reunited with the kingdom.
This significant reunion was marked by a series of traditional rituals and a colourful ceremony, deeply rooted in the cultural heritage of the Denkyira people.
The event took place at the Denkyira stool house and other revered sites as part of the Adae Kan festival, the first of its kind in 2024.

The Omanhen of Efutu, Neenyi Ghartey, played a crucial role in this reunion.
His efforts in mediating between the new chief of Diaso and the Denkyira Traditional Council were pivotal in bridging the decades-long divide.
Accompanied by Neenyi Ghartey, the people of Diaso journeyed to Ahenkro, Jukwa where they were warmly received in a gesture of unity and brotherhood.”
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Denkyirahemaa Nana Ama Ayensua Saara III, Prof Christopher Ameyaw Akumfi, and a host of divisional and sub-chiefs.
Also in attendance were Denkyira citizens from across Ghana, including those from Sefwi, the Oti region, Subriso, and Akyem Bomaa, all gathering to witness this momentous occasion.”
According to the elders of Denkyira, this reunion is more than just a formal ceremony.
It marks a new chapter for the Adonten division, revitalizing its historical and cultural significance within the Denkyira Kingdom.
The people of Diaso, now reunited with their kin, look forward to a future of prosperity and unity under the shared banner of their heritage.
