Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have directed the majority caucus in parliament to abstain from a scheduled vote of censure being sought by the minority caucus against the Minister for Finance, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta.
To them “the leadership of the Majority Caucus especially the Whips are to ensure that no Member of the Majority Caucus partakes in this exercise by the Minority Group in Parliament.”
the leadership of the party recalled that during the erstwhile Mahama administration in 2015, similar calls were made for the then Finance Minister, Mr. Seth Tekper to which the NDC led Majoriy Cacus objected and rose to the Mr. Tekper defence.
“Accordingly, neither the NPP nor its Members of Parliament will lend support to this mischievous move by the NDC legislators as it is one of their many ill-motivated and self-serving but unpatriotic moves to sabotage the NPP government and frustrate the administration of the country.” They emphasized.
In statement dated November 9, 2022 and signed by the party’s general secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party leadership said the executive body acknowledges the socio-economic conditions in the country adding that there are ongoing internal engagements regarding the management of the economy.
