Coach Ibrahim Tanko of the newly promoted side Real Tamale United has disclosed to the media that his team is made up of about 80 to 90% of students from the University of Development Studies (UDS) in Tamale.
Speaking to ATLFM, the director of sports for University of Development Studies revealed that the students have been very instrumental in the club in their quest to qualify into the nation’s elite football division.

Mr. Tanko admitted that it was not easy on the part of the students since they had to combine academics and football simultaneously.
RTU have for the first time in 8 years qualified into the Ghana Premier League after beating Unity FC 2-0 in their last game at the Ibrahim Mahama Stadium in Tamale.
