The Electoral Commission (EC) Has Announced A Rerun Of The Ablekuma North Constituency Parliamentary elections in 19 out of the 37 polling stations following a meeting it held with representatives of the National Democratic Congress and New Patriotic Party yesterday Tuesday, 1st July 2025.
In a statement signed by the Deputy Chairperson of the Commission Samuel Tettey, the Commission stated that the rerun will be held on Friday, 11th July, 2025.
“The Commission arrived at the decision to rerun the election in the underlisted polling stations because, the 19 scanned polling station results used for the collation, though approved by Agents of both political parties, were not verified by the Presiding Officers responsible for those polling stations”, the statement read.
The statement, dated 2nd July 2025 further revealed that the Commission had secured the Presiding Officers’ verification and confirmation for the remaining 18 scanned polling station results. It added that the agents of both political parties had approved the results.
The meeting held yesterday was a follow-up to an earlier meeting held on Thursday, 12th June, 2025 and provided both Parties the opportunity to brief the Commission on any new developments regarding the said Constituency.
The winner of the Ablekuma North Constituency Parliamentary elections held on December 7, 2025 has been in contention. Both the NPP and the NDC believe that their respective candidates won the election, leaving the constituency with representation in Parliament.
The Commission expects that the Ghana Police Service will provide the needed security to ensure a safe environment for the conduct of the election.
