Co-founder of the Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), Prof. Baffour Agyeman-Duah says having a first-class dual carriageway from Cape Coast to Accra will be more beneficial to the residents than an airport.
Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE Friday, he explained that although having an airport constructed in Cape Coast by the President is a commendable initiative, a first-class dual carriageway to facilitate easy and quick movements from Cape Coast to the capital will be much better considering the number of people who travel by air and those who travel by road in Cape Coast.
“How many people can afford to fly…having a good road will be more comfortable for people to go in and out.” He said.
His comments come after the President apologized to the people of Cape Coast on Peace FM in Accra over a rescinded promise to build a harbor in Cape Coast which was stated in his manifesto for the 2020 general elections
According to the President, although he did promise to build both a harbor and an airport in Cape Coast, an airport, he said, is more feasible than a harbour.
But according to Prof. Baffour Agyemang-Guah, a dual carriageway from Cape Coast to Accra will be much preferable to an airport and cautioned politicians against making promises that cannot be accomplished.

To him, Ghanaian leaders should be more pragmatic and realistic in what they think they can do and the citizens must also know that they have a duty to scrutinize manifestoes that political parties present to them.
