A 19-year-old man was sentenced to 22 years in jail with hard labor by an Accra Circuit Court for theft.
Evans Asante, who also stabbed his friend in the back and left wrist, robbed him of his mobile phone and laptop machine.
He pled guilty to causing injury and theft and received the appropriate punishment.
According to the prosecution, on April 2, 2021, at about 0145 hours, a Police Patrol Team conducting regular patrols came across Senyogah lying in the center of the road outside the National Theatre.
He had been stabbed in the back and left wrist with his Huawei phone and a bag holding an HP desktop device had been unlawfully taken at knife point.
According to the prosecution, the Police apprehended Asante about 200 metres away from the crime scene after obtaining the piece of information and the route Asante followed.

The phone, bag containing the laptop machine, a pair of scissors, and a jack knife were discovered on the convict.
Senyogah, the complainant, was hurried to the Police Hospital but was subsequently sent to the Accra Regional Hospital, where he was admitted and examined.
After the inquiry was over, Asante was prepared for court.
