A young man suspected to be in his late twenties has died in a shooting incidence at Gomoa Budumburam in the Central Region.
According to the Central Regional Police PRO DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong , on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 0330 hrs the Kasoa Divisional patrol team went to Gomoa Buduburam Station when they had a distress call that a young man armed with two cutlasses was chasing people at the Gomoa Buduburam taxi Station.
The police upon rushing to the scene met the deceased armed with two cutlasses chasing people around the station.
The deceased on seeing the police started attacking the police with the cutlasses. However, the police in an attempt to disarm the victim shot him in the leg but the victim, the police said, grew more violent and aggressive.
The police then shot the deceased on the left arm to disarm him but he fell down and died.

When another team led by the investigator from the Gomoa Buduburam Police Station visited the scene, the body of the male adult suspected to be 29 years laid dead in a pool of blood in a prone position with two cutlasses beside him.
Two gunshot wounds were seen on the victims’ body, one on the left leg and another on his left shoulder after inspection by the police. The police also retrieved a car key from the deceased’s pocket.
The body has been conveyed and deposited at the police hospital mortuary in Accra for preservation, identification, and autopsy. The case is under investigation.
