If you own a Pixel phone, Google’s next major version of the Android operating system is now available.
Google released Android 15 on Tuesday, enabling Pixel devices (specifically, Pixel 6 and later) to run the operating system.
Security and privacy are two of the most significant new features. For instance, Theft Detection Lock is an intriguing feature that employs artificial intelligence (AI) to identify when someone has stolen your phone and is escaping with it by driving or riding. The phone will automatically lock itself in these situations to protect you from any data theft. Using your phone number and passing a security check, you can remotely lock your phone from any other phone with the help of the Remote Lock feature.

Private Space is another new feature; for some reason, Google is capitalizing some of these capabilities but not all of them. It enables you to lock specific programs into a unique, “virtually” invisible folder that is concealed from your settings, alerts, recent apps view, and apps list. For instance, you will need to authenticate using a fingerprint scan in order to access certain apps. You may also entirely conceal the private space’s existence on your phone, which should come in handy if someone is forcing you to give up anything that’s inside.
The option to instantly pin and unpin your taskbar on the screen, app pairing on tablets and foldables that allows you run two apps at once, and the ability to log in with a single press when using Passkeys are some of the other new features.
The release of Android 15 on other Android phones is likely to take some time, even though Pixels are getting it first. Fortunately, some of these capabilities, such as Remote Lock and Theft Detection Lock, will be available for smartphones running older Android versions (version 10 and up).
