Free SHS Coordinator for the Central Region, Katakyie Kwame Opoku Agyeman has advised parents and guardians of newly placed senior high school students against any payment requests made by school authorities.
In an interview on ATL FM’s ATLANTIC WAVE on Wednesday, October 30, Mr Opoku Agyemang emphasized that parents and students must avoid paying additional monies for any services.
He said school authorities should wait for parents to become members of the Parents’ Association before making any financial demands.
He reiterated that the government has allocated funds to cover essential educational expenses, and any demands for extra payments from school staff or administrators are unauthorized.
“So, parents, if you go to any school and somebody says pay money, please report, tell us. The president says nobody should pay money.
Usually, when school opens like that, there is a P.A.; Parents Association, mounting tables here and there and collecting money from them. We have asked all the heads to refrain from doing that.”
Mr. Opoku Agyemang also directed students who were not assigned to schools in the initial placement process to use the designated self-placement platform.
He explained that the self-placement system is designed to help students without placements find available options, ensuring that every student can secure a spot at an educational institution.
Students and their guardians are therefore encouraged to access this platform promptly to resolve any placement issues, as schools prepare for the upcoming academic term.
Mr. Opoku Agyemang assured the public that the self-placement process is simple and can be completed from any internet-enabled device.
“To check your Senior High School placement, go to the website www.cssps.org. If you are not placed, you will be redirected to another self-placement site. To find your placement, enter your 10-digit index number, adding “24” to the end (because you completed in 2024). This will give you a list of schools with vacancies in various regions,” he said.
