The government has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, as an additional public holiday in Ghana to observe Founders’ Day.
Typically celebrated on August 4th to honor the nation’s founders, this year’s Founders’ Day falls on a Sunday. Consequently, President Akufo-Addo has issued an Executive Instrument (E.I) in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) to extend the holiday to the following Monday.
This adjustment ensures that all citizens have the opportunity to properly commemorate Founders’ Day. Ghanaians are encouraged to participate in the celebrations and reflect on the contributions of the nation’s founders.
Founders’ Day remains a pivotal occasion in Ghana, recognizing the significant contributions of the nation’s founders and celebrating the country’s rich history and heritage.
