At least three people are feared dead following floods caused by heavy rains that pounded Kenya’ s capital, Nairobi, for hours.
Among those killed was a police officer who was rescuing trapped families in the Kamukunji area, local media reported.
Authorities are yet to confirm the deaths.
Videos and photos that went viral on social media showed motorists stranded in their cars as the floodwaters submerged various roads.
Heavy rainfall has resulted in flooding on several parts of the Nairobi Expressway, a major toll road that connects the country’s main airport to the capital city. As a result, toll road officers were forced to redirect traffic in affected areas to ensure the safety of motorists.

Videos captured by drivers and shared on social media show cars being rerouted as they navigate through the flooded sections of the expressway.
The recent heavy rains have caused widespread flooding and damage to infrastructure in various parts of Nairobi, with emergency services working around the clock to address the situation..
Weather experts have said the rains would continue over the next few days.
The Kenya Red Cross has advised motorists and pedestrians to evacuate roads immediately if they sense impending danger.
