The University of Cape Coast will today launch its five-year corporate strategic plan for 2023 to 2027.
The new strategic plan of the University of Cape Coast is the fourth strategic plan to be launched in the last two decades after the last plan ended in 2022.
The strategic plan is aimed to guide the smooth operation of every part of the university
Speaking to ATL FM ahead of the launch, the Director for the Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance and chairman in charge of the committee for strategic planning, Prof Daniel Agyepong revealed that relevant parties were involved in the development of the strategic plan, as it is intended to serve the interests of the university community rather than solely that of the school’s management.
He highlighted this comprehensive engagement included various stakeholders from government institutions, students, staff, unions, and international organizations.
They began the process in 2021, focusing on collecting the right data and gathering opinions to ensure that the strategic plan represents the staff and not just the management.
According to Prof. Agyepong, validation sessions were conducted to confirm that the collected ideas resonated with stakeholders’ expectations.
“I can tell you that there were more than six or seven meetings on the strategic plan. Then beyond that, we had to also go to the council.
The lunch which comes off is basically also to tell the public that everybody can have access to it. But this event is also one great opportunity to create awareness about the plan and the fact that it belongs to the university community,” he continued.
The new strategic plan has been designed to align all activities by individuals, groups, units, directorates, and offices with the plan’s objectives.
A monitoring component is included, involving the development of an internal monitoring system, with ongoing efforts to digitize this process.
The plan also entails a strategy for a medium-term and end-of-period review to assess and achieve the plan’s goals.
Emphasis was placed on the importance of stakeholders actively engaging with and utilizing the plan to identify and address any weaknesses and contribute to advancing the university and Ghana as a whole.
