The University of Cape Coast has issued a statement in response to recent publications alleging misconduct by a staff member and former Pro Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor George K. T. Oduro.
The statement follows a publication on Modern Ghana and Phoenix online portals in which a Mr. John Boateng, is imputing that Professor George K. T. Oduro obtained his PhD through subterfuge from the University of Cape Coast.
The publication states that Prof. Oduro’s work was discredited for plagiarisation and also alleged to have raped a female colleague.
The university clarifies that Prof. Oduro did not obtain his PhD from UCC, but rather from the University of Cambridge.
The university also asserts that there are no records of Prof. Oduro being involved in plagiarism or rape, and urges the public to disregard the false accusations.
The University further emphasized that throughout his 30 years of association with the University as an undergraduate student and a lecturer, rising to the rank of a Professor, Prof. George K. T. Oduro discharged his duties with utmost professionalism and without any blemish.
