An unknown individual has felled a historical cola tree (bese) believed to have been planted by the famed fetish priest, Okomfo Anokye, some 300 years ago at Feyiase near Kumasi.
The residents of the region reported woke up to see the tree had fallen.
As a result, the traditional authorities have launched an investigation to find the offender who fell the revered cola tree, which has historical significance in the Asante Kingdom.

In addition to its historical significance in the Asante Kingdom, the tree offers locals health advantages.

The traditional authorities have started an inquiry, but the person who chopped down the tree has not yet been found.
They all claimed that waking up to find that the well-known cola tree had been down surprised them all.
The settlement of Feyiase, which served as a battleground between the Asante Allied Forces and the Denkyira in the 17th century, is a monument to the region’s rich history of battles and cultural legacy.
The cutting down of this ancient tree situated along Lake Bosomtwe Road has great symbolic significance, echoing with the area’s historical traditions.
The cola tree served as a live reminder of their ancestry and was revered by the locals.
They have started taking official action to notify Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, of the situation at hand.
