The Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Limited Company (BOST) has released a press statement to clarify recent rumours about the expense of acquiring 18 iPhone 13 Pro Max smartphones for company officials.
BOST confirmed in their statement that they purchased iPhones for its executives in May of last year.
BOST stated that the overall cost of the phones was GH¢234,000, which, after taxes, came to a total of GH¢285,412.16p, as opposed to the previously claimed cost of more than GH¢28 million. The company’s financial report accurately documented this specific sum.
Furthermore, BOST emphasised that the Auditor General had examined their financial report and had identified no issues with the transaction.
In response to the reported amount disparity, BOST said that the GH₵28,541,261.00 number was due to a typographical error, notably the misplacement of a decimal point, which erroneously increased the cost in the first report.

Therefore, the company requested that the public disregard the erroneous statement that it had spent 28 million on the 18 iPhones, emphasising that such a figure was both inaccurate and misleading.
BOST justified the iPhone acquisition, citing its relevance in improving communication and access to management information and business intelligence tools within the organisation.
