The National Food Suppliers Association says its members will continue with their plan to demonstrate at the premises of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) if their outstanding arrears for the past two years are not paid, in the case of Free SHS.
The Association recently met with the Minister of Education regarding their demands, and NAFCO has indicated that it is taking steps to secure funds from the Finance Ministry to pay the arrears.
However, the spokesperson for the National Food Suppliers Association, Kwaku Amedume, says they will not be swayed by empty promises.
He notes that the agencies responsible for paying the arrears have consistently made empty promises, and the Association can no longer tolerate such behavior.

He explains that they have heard the same story of “organizing money” and “releasing funding” for two years now, and they cannot trust that the money will be paid until they have it in their hands.
Amedume maintains that the value of money is decreasing day by day, and they want action, not promises.
The Association has therefore given a 14-day ultimatum to the National Food Buffer Stock Company to pay the eighteen months’ arrears owed to members, or they will protest at the Buffer Stock’s premises until they are paid for the Free SHS.
