All candidates for political office in the 2024 general election should be required to state their position on the contentious LGBTQ+ movement, according to Osaagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Agyemang Badu II, Dormaahene.
He thinks that making such a statement will make it easier for voters to decide which candidates are qualified for office.
Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu asks President Akufo-Addo to clarify his stance on the controversial topic and reiterate Ghana’s view that lesbian and gay marriages are incompatible with Ghanaian traditions.
The Dormaahene who doubles as the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs reiterated that Ghanaians will never accept same-sex marriage and that sponsors of such an abomination need to be told so in plain language.
Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu was speaking to the chiefs and people of Dormaa during a clean-up exercise in Dormaa Ahenkro, and according to Adom News Bono regional reporter Christian Ofori Kumah, the message received great applause by the people.

The practice would never be acceptable, according to Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu, thus its sponsors might as well keep their money.
No part of Ghanaian culture, including chiefs, traditionalists, Christians, and Muslims, he claimed, endorses the practice, and neither developments nor societal views are going to change today or tomorrow.
In order to remove them from office, he pledged to organize a protest against the president, his vice president, and every ministry or lawmaker who affirms support for LGBTQ+.
He acknowledged that chiefs are prohibited from participating in partisan politics, but he asserted that he would enter the political arena if necessary to defend the “non-negotiable” national position.
According to Osaagyefo Agyemang Badu, leaders must amplify the voice of the people and refrain from speaking against what they desire.
He urged parliament, in particular Speaker Alban Bagbin, to hold an open vote instead of a secret vote so that everyone could understand each member’s viewpoint.
