Two children, aged 6years, who were allegedly kidnapped in Komenda in the KEEA Municipality of the Central Region have been rescued by a combined effort of the Police and community members within Komenda.
ATLFMNEWS gathers that on Saturday June 6, 2020, father of one of the children, Isaac Paa Ekow Eduam, who is also the complainant, reported to the Komenda Police station that his 6-year-old son and his friend also of the same age had been kidnapped by an unknown person.
He said the incident occurred when the children visited their grandfather at Amotoe a suburb of Komenda. According to the father, the children were reportedly taken by an unknown person while they had gone out to play. Ekow Eduam also indicated that he had received a call from an individual demanding a GHS 6000 ransom for the children’s release.
This led to a search for the victims by the Police and residents of Komenda which resulted in the children being rescued within the vicinity of their disappearance the same day.
On Monday, June 8, 2020, the Elmina District Police arrested the main suspect behind the kidnapping of the 2 children. The suspect, Daniel Wallace, aged 18 years is a form three SHS student and a native of Komenda. Wallace was subsequently arraigned before the Elmina Magistrate Court and has been charged with kidnapping. Suspect has been remanded into police custody.
