A call has been made by the Warden of the Oguaa Hall at the University of Cape Coast to affiliates to work hard to uphold the hall’s reputation as the premier hall of the University.
Ms. Millan Ahemaa Tawiah who made this call noted that the existing reputation of the hall was built through the tireless efforts of its pioneers, therefore current affiliates must also contribute their bits to maintain the hall’s image.
She said, “Oguaa hall has endeavored to maintain this position practically guided by our vision statement that is to maintain and consolidate the premiership position as a hall of residence and our mission statement which is to provide a safe, comfortable, secure, and a nurturing learning environment that is conducive for academic pursuit and personal growth while fostering a sense of community, civic responsibility and an appreciation of diversity.”
Ms. Ahemaa Tawiah made this remark during the hall’s 60th anniversary which was themed, projecting our Premiership position.
In an address, she emphasized that despite various difficulties, including network and water issues among others, the hall has lived up to its mandate of providing conducive accommodation for students’ academic work and has significantly benefited the university and Ghana as a whole.
She lauded the current executives for their efforts and further stressed the need for affiliates to maintain the hall’s reputation in order to keep the position of the premiership.
The Hall President Neonoma Bertrand, on his part, said the hall had made progress as such the celebration of the hall’s 60th anniversary was an opportunity to look back and assess its successes and shortcomings.
In order to maintain the hall’s standing as the best, he, therefore, pushed for strong alumni ties and unity.
“True solidarity is the only thing that will help us to achieve our true identity as the premiers” he added.
Secretary of the soon to be- inaugurated Oguaa Hall Alumni Association, Lewis Ola Samson, called on all old affiliates to get involved in the affairs of the Hall.
