The College of Distance Education at the University of Cape Coast will from August 19 to August 21 host its college day celebration in the University.
The celebration forms part of activities scheduled to commemorate the university’s 60th anniversary which will be climaxed in October 2022.
The theme for the college’s celebration is 60 years of Quality Education: Expanding Access through Distance Education.
Ahead of the event, the chair for the UCC @ 60 CODE Day, Prof. Emmanuel Kwasi Abu told ATLFM NEWS that the College celebration would help shed light on the college’s contributions to the development of the university and Ghana as a whole.
“The rationale for the celebration is to showcase CODE’s story and history, our contributions to national development and to the university’s development…so come on that day and listen to the CODE story, which projects what CODE is contributing to.” He emphasized.
Activities for the celebration will include, donations to an orphanage in Ahontokrom at Ankaful and UCC Maternity ward, a talk, exhibition, a book launch, and awards among others.
Prof Emmanuel Abu, therefore, urged the university community to fully participate in the celebration to showcase the rich acumen of the college and the university at large.
The mandate of CODE is to generate income to develop the University of Cape Coast and to take education everywhere across the country.
