The Deputy Director of the University of Cape Coast Health Service, Dr. James Prah has urged individuals to adopt to regular medical check-ups to detect potentially life-threatening health conditions early.
He said the organs of the human body hardly give any significant sign when there is a problem except during the latter stages which could pose danger to the life of the individual.
Speaking on the ATLANTIC WAVE on the topic; the importance of regular medical check-ups, Dr. Prah indicated that individuals adhering to the call for regular medical check-ups increase their chances for treatment and cure.
He emphasized saying ‘our bodies are very much similar to machines because they have parts that work continuously. In fact, there are some parts of our bodies that work from conception and only stop when we are dead. All of us will take note that we need to consciously take good care of our bodies by regularly going to find out whether everything is alright just as we have been doing for our cars.”
He notes that check-ups also limit the risk of complications by closely monitoring existing conditions and as such individuals should take advantage of wellness centers and hospitals closer to them to have regular medical check-ups.
“People are allowed to walk in to check blood pressure, to check blood sugar and this or that organ. We might be asked to pay for those ones that are not linked to any medical condition but like I always say our health is a priority.” He said.
Dr. Prah also advised against unhealthy eating lifestyles and called for the needful to be done coupled with regular exercise for a prolonged healthy lifespan.
