Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Art, Barbara Oteng Gyasi has disclosed that government would be injecting 9 million dollars into the tourism sector to boost the tourism industry.
According to her, out of the 9 million dollars which would be disbursed, 4 million dollars will be injected into tourism sites and destination development with 5 million dollars invested into tourism enterprise support for SMEs within the tourism value chain.
The Honorable Minister said although gains made in the industry were eroded by Covid-19 pandemic, government has “instituted inter- ministerial committee to assess the impact of covid-19 on the tourism and hospitality industry” so as to propose a possible solution.

She strongly believes that this initiative will “alleviate the impact of the pandemic” as to protect jobs and ensure the recovery of the industry after covid-19.
Barbara Oteng Gyasi was briefing the public on the easing of restrictions within the sector after taking her turn on the Ministry of Information press briefing on Wednesday, June 4 2020.

Providing the guidelines, she urged players in the food and beverage industry to enforce ‘no mask no entry directives.’
“In respect to the food and beverage industry comprising the restaurants, chop bars, smack bars, highway rest stops, fast food and coffee and tea shops. They may operate within these guidelines; the displace of ‘no mask no entry signage and ensure that all patronages are wearing mask on entry,” she noted.
The Honorable Minister also mentioned that their operation will be centered on fifty percent of their current carrying capacity to ensure “adequate spacing for sitting and maintaining social distancing of one meter”, however warns that “Nightclubs and Drinking bars remain close”.
