On Tuesday night, armed robbers assaulted and murdered a mobile money vendor and another person in the Tamale suburb of Kalariga.
They assaulted Alhassan Suale’s shop, where he runs a mobile money shop and also works as a journalist for Tamale’s Neesim FM.
When the robbers raided the shop on Tuesday night [June 7, 2022], they allegedly shot Suale and another person dead.
According to Mohammed Fugu of Graphic Online, who reports from Tamale, a man riding a motorcycle passed the crime scene and was mistaken for one of the suspects and was killed by a crowd.
The suspect’s motorcycle was set on fire by the mob.

Two additional people, one of whom is reported to be a robbery suspect and the other a victim, were shot and are receiving medical care.
According to a police statement, an investigation into the event is ongoing in order to capture the culprits.
In recent years, there has been an increase in robbery incidents in Tamale Metropolis.
A similar robbery incident on a mobile money vendor near Tamale’s Afa Ajura mosque occurred last week.
There have also been a spate of car snatchings in Tamale recently.
