As Muslims in Ghana and across the world officially commenced their one-month Ramadan fast on April 3, Direct Aid, a Muslim non-governmental charitable organization has donated food items to about 500 Muslim households in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem municipality.
The donation, which fulfills the charitable obligations of Allah, was to kick start the holy month of Ramadan, ensure that poor families are relieved of the burden they face, and be able to have food to break their fast.
The month of Ramadan is a religious period characterized by fasting, praying, and being around loved ones. Muslims across the globe engage in self-reflection and strengthen their relationship with God.
In an exclusive interview with ATLFM NEWS during the donation, Director of Alfawz Educational complex, Mohammed Ali Banda, said Ramadan is a blessed month as such during the period everyone seeks to live according to Allah’s statures in order to receive blessings from Allah.
He emphasized that “he, that provides food for the fasting person has the equivalence of the reward of the one that is fasting. And all Muslims across the globe are encouraged to be generous when this time comes. If you have enough to eat and some to spare, you need to think of the next-door neighbor who is struggling”.
Speaking to some beneficiaries of the donations, they expressed gratitude for such a kind gesture from Direct Aid and prayed that Allah rewards them immensely.
Meanwhile, President Akufo Addo in a fraternal message noted that Ramadan is a month of intense devotion and urged Muslims to strive to live by their values of love, sacrifice, and devotion to duty.
