The 65th Independence Day Celebration Local Planning Committee in collaboration with governmental agencies within the Cape Coast Metropolis is today organizing the first of two clean-up exercises to usher in the weeklong National Independence Day Celebration to be held in Cape Coast.
The exercise is part of the local content activities scheduled for the weeklong celebration.
Areas to be focused on according to the Vice-Chair to the Communication Sub Committee for the 65th Anniversary Celebration, Tally Ansah Asiedu will include the residency and the regional coordinating council (RCC) yard, petrol roundabout through to holy child senior high school.
Other areas also include the Bakaano, friend’s gardens, cape coast stadium which is the focus of the celebration, the various markets across the metropolis, police headquarters, and its environs.
Adding to this, Mr. Aseidu who also doubles as the Regional Public Affairs Officer of the RCC said “We are privileged to host the celebration. We can recall that the National Farmer’s Day was hosted here too and if this second privilege has been granted us, we should welcome and embrace His Excellency the president and the prime minister of Barbados with cleanliness and tidying up of our environment”
He intimated it is their expectation that the Cape Coast Metropolis becomes cleaner than before to the benefit of residents and every individual is expected to participate in the exercise.
Institutions to participate in the cleanup exercise include National Service Personnel, staff from RCC, Land’s Commission, CCMA, market women, staff of the Cape Coast Stadium as well as all agencies within the metropolis and the region at large.
The Second Cleanup exercise is also expected to take place a day before the 65th Independence Day Celebration (5th March 2022)
