The Central Region since the rollout of the mass Covid-19 vaccination exercise across the country has so far vaccinated 41.9% of its target population.
ATLFMNEWS gathers that as of 17th of January, 2022, seven hundred and nine thousand, five hundred and six (709, 506) people out of the targeted population of one million, six hundred and ninety-eight thousand, three hundred and forty-five (1, 698, 345) had been captured.
Out of the vaccinated population, 18.1% have been fully vaccinated while the remaining 23.8% have received the first dose.
The vaccines being used within the region include AstraZeneca, Moderna, Johnson and Johnson, and Pfizer.
ATLFMNEWS also gathers that the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) section of the regional health directorate is targeting to vaccinate about a million people by the end of January.
Meanwhile, there are calls by the Ghana Health Service for citizens to get vaccinated against contracting and suffering the dire effects of Covid-19.
As of January 16, 2022, Ghana had recorded a total of 155,242 cases with total recoveries of 149,693. Total death stands at 1,364.
On Wednesday, the Minister of Health, Mr. KwekuAgeman-Manu, announced the commencement of booster doses of covid-19 vaccines as well as the vaccination of pregnant women.
