Earlier this year, we saw a young lady transform into an overnight sensation with her popular song, ‘Forever.’ And for those who questioned the abilities of Gyakie to succeed in the music business, she tells them that she never forgets what others say about her.
Gyakie admitted during a Showbiz 360 interview with Giovani Caleb that she was aware of people who foretold her career’s demise. And she has no intention of forgetting.
“I have seen a couple. Oh, I have receipts. I always keep them when I see somebody saying something bad about me. There’s this thing that I have started doing. I take a screenshot, and I save it. Because you know there’s always something you would get to say in the future.”
While some may save receipts in order to foster animosity against critics, Gyakie said that her aims were just to improve herself. She remarked that these receipts motivate her to succeed.
“They make me want to do more. They make me want to do better. Do you understand? Because somebody is thinking you are that way, so there is always something you have to do to prove the person wrong,” she concluded.
Gyakie released four collaborations in November and led Twitter discussions with the most liked tweet by a female artist in 2021. Additionally, she became Ghana’s most streamed artist and Nigeria’s most Shazamed song.
