President Akufo-Addo has said that a harbor in Cape Coast project was never a part of the list of commitments tabled before him for his second term.
In response to questions about plans for the project, which had been on the minds of many residents in the central region, the President clarified that his party, the New Patriotic Party actually pledged to put up landing sites as captured in the 2020 manifesto and earmarked for execution in 2022.
“First of all, there is a clarification, commitment was never to a harbor but to a landing site. When you look at page 88 of the NPP’s manifesto for the 2020 election, it was clear… So for the harbor, we have to be very clear on our minds, we never committed ourselves. I never said I was going to build a harbor in Cape Coast.” He said.
Speaking on Eagle FM during his tour in the Central Region, the president outlined a few of the landing sites slated for the Central Region, which he said were at various stages of completion as far as Phase One is concerned.
He outlined them and said, the landing beach at the Senya Brekum is 93% complete with one at Elmina in the 13 percentage completion.
Others he said are Morrey 78% complete, Winneba, 57% complete, Gomoafete 19% complete, and Mamfayn, 79- 80% complete.
He emphasized and said, “Cape Coast also will have its own landing site and the construction of that will begin next year”.
