Popular Highlife legend, Samuel Owusu has revealed that he has never smoked before but has decided to also quit taking moderate consumption of alcohol entirely for his own personal health promotion.
The “kokosakyi” and “yeka wontie” hitmaker mentioned in an interview on Accra based Peace FM that at a point in one’s life, one would have to make or take certain drastic decisions. He also added that his decision is purely out of his volition and that he was not being enticed or forced to do so.
Highlife legend, Samuel Owusu also went further on to add that sometimes one may have to think twice about his decisions in life especially as he or she is getting older and would have no idea when there may be a health challenge.
“I take very good care of myself and for instance, next month, October happens to be exactly a year after I made a decision to stop taking in any alcoholic beverage. The truth of the matter is that no one has banned or stopped me from taking any alcoholic beverage. But as you are ageing as a human, you must be quite careful about how you lead your life and the choices you make. However, this in no way shames or criticizes anyone who takes in alcohol” he spoke in Twi.

He also added that as a human being, you have no control over your life and the health issues that may plague you and may require that one recuses him or herself from things he or she initially enjoyed.
“As a human being who is growing, at a point in time, you may have to recuse yourself from a lot of things that at a point in time, when you are being told to recuse yourself of these things for medical purposes, you wouldn’t struggle because it’s become a part of you. For instance, I have never smoked before in my entire life”.
Samuel Owusu also debunked rumours that musicians are promiscuous and used himself as an example, stating that he has had a successful marriage without cheating on his wife since he got married in 1994.
