Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare says his outfit has petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department, CID, over alleged massive leaks in the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE.
He says the petition is for the CID to investigate the source of the overnight and dawn leakage.
The petition comes after WAEC announced that extracts of questions for the Elective Mathematics 2 Paper and Section ‘A’ of English Language 2, were circulated on some social media platforms prior to the Examination.

In an interview monitored by ATL FM NEWS, he said with the posture of WAEC saying the evidences being presented are fake should be a source of worry to every stakeholder in the education sector.
According to him, it is up to regulatory agency to enforce standards to ensure compliance and sanction non-compliance.
“That is why we are all hearing WAEC tell us that the leakage that we have seen and presented evidence to the CID director general about 5 papers; 4 of them being WAEC papers and one being NAFTI; If WAEC is saying all that evidence is fake then WAEC will never admit any leakage in this country… If we don’t admit the challenge, it becomes very difficult to begin to proffer sustainable solutions, that is why we have solace in the ministry. The Ministry of education is upbeat about it commitment to engaging technology to resolve some of these security deficit.”
However, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Kwarteng says the ministry is looking at reducing the human interface that are usually responsible for such happenings.
According to him the ministry will soon roll out some short and long term interventions to curb the challenges the education sector has been facing especially with examination malpractices.
