President Akufo-Addo says his government is putting in much efforts to grow the Ghanaian economy at a much faster rate this year despite the negative impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on economies globally.
According to him, the goal is to improve the business environment making them friendly enough to promote the success of companies in the country.
“In spite of the ravages of the pandemic, we are working to grow the economy at a much faster rate this year; our target being a 5% GDP growth rate which will enhance the prospects of a win-win environment for both private sector and country.” He said.
Speaking at this year’s edition of the annual investment summit of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), on Tuesday, the President indicated that because of measures government could put in place from 2017, Ghana’s economy was noted as one of the buoyant economies in the world between that year and 2020.
“Government since 2017 has put in place measures needed to reduce the cost of doing business, improve the business environment and made the Ghanaian economy not only one of the business friendly economies in Africa but also one of the fastest growing economies in the world between 2017 and 2020.”
According to the president an environment has been created in the country where companies “do not only survive but actually thrive”.
The summit, which was dubbed ‘Spark up’ was under the theme “Maximizing Ghana’s Investment Potential.”
