An Assistant Commissioner and Technical Advisor to the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Dominic Nabb has called on government to intensify public education on tax obligations to help mobilize revenue for the development of the country.
He said intense education is needful in this regard as majority of the Ghanaian populace are not abreast with tax laws adding that it is time to make everyone understand the importance of taxes and the need for them to honour their tax obligations.
He noted that “when the tax payers are educated appropriately then will also be able to react…we can help raise the needed revenue by making others appreciate the fact that we need to actually raise revenue.”
Mr. Nabb was speaking at a recently held public lecture organized by the School of business, University of Cape Coast on the topic: Tax Administration and Domestic Revenue Mobilization in Ghana.

Mr. Nabb disclosed that the Ghana revenue authority on it part has introduced systems such as the online filing system to make filing and payment of taxes convenient for its customers.
“We have realized that the whole world is becoming a global village and we have put in place a system that will allow you to file online. So you can sit in the comfort of your home file and GRA will receive it and respond appropriately. You can also pay your tax using mobile money and it’s also very convenient.”
