Anas Aremeyaw Anas, a renowned investigative journalist, has congratulated his former legal adviser, who was just sworn in as the Special Prosecutor for the Republic of Ghana.
On Thursday, August 5, Mr. Agyebang was sworn in by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo at the seat of government.
Following the incident, Anas tweeted, “Kissi Agyebeng: Hearty congratulations on your swearing-in as Special Prosecutor for the Republic of #Ghana. Wishing you the very best!”
President Akufo-Addo praised recently sworn-in Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng, saying he had all it takes to be the second person to hold the post.
“Having been called to the Ghana Bar in October 2003, holding a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from the University of Ghana and Master of Laws degrees from Dalhousie University and Cornell Law School [and] having served as a Criminal Law lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Ghana, Legon, as well as engaging in private law practice, it is clear that Mr. Kissi Agyebeng is eminently qualified to occupy
“He has the ability, experience, values, and intellectual power to thrive in this critical position.”
He encouraged the incoming Special Prosecutor to “always keep in mind that the office bears an exceptional duty to combat corruption independently and impulsively.”
He acknowledged that the position’s responsibilities are “extensive and difficult,” but he promised Mr. Agyebeng that he would give him with whatever support he needs “to enable him to fulfill his important obligations efficiently for the benefit of the Ghanaian people.”
