The Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has called on the youth in the country to be mindful of what they put on social media even in this era of technological advancement.
According to her, before they share anything about their lives on any platform, they should ensure that the information they are giving out is one that will impact their lives positively in the long run.
Technology can be a blessing and a curse as well… That means that we also have to be on our guard and be aware that somebody somewhere may be chronicling whatever you may be going through and that image is being kept permanently in some archive which can be retrieved and confronted with that any time”, she said.
She gave this admonishment during a ladies empowerment programme dubbed 21st Century Woman organized by the office of the Vice president of the University of Cape Coast Students’ Representative Council.
Touching on the subject, “Forging a gender equal world in Covid-19”, she urged the government to be sensitive to the needs of women even as policies and programmes are introduced to help the country recover faster from the Covid-19 pandemic.
She explained that policy pathways out of the crises should not be gender blind hence whatever initiatives being put in place should be skewed in favour of women adding that should this be done the country will recover faster.
