The Dean for the school of Educational Development and outreach at the University of Cape Coast, Prof George K.T Oduro has charged institutions of higher learning in the country to instill in the youth the sense of volunteerism.
Speaking at an International Conference organized by the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) at UCC, Prof Oduro said, the sense of patriotism can only be relevant to the youth if they have in them the zeal to volunteer.
Describing as unfortunate the fast-eroding of the country’s moral fabric, Prof Oduro said the only way to protect it, is to provide a platform that will empower the youth to be more open to help than being self-centered.
He notes that the education sector and for that matter, the university have a great role to play as students are the future of the country.
He, therefore, said the future of nature will be bleak if the mind of the youth is not changed to fit into the values of the country.
