“We wanted to do so many things but we decided to start with this one, and not just anything, but something that the town needed most was a good source of water”, he said.
He noted that the hand pump was constructed because the community had had an experience with the mechanized, electric one and solar one boreholes constructed for them adding that the hand pump is always reliable.
Mr. Brown expressed optimism that the boreholes would ease the water problems in the community and urged them to cultivate the culture of maintenance to ensure its longevity.
The Gyaasehene of Abura Asemase, Nana Apotai II commended the Brown Family for the support and swift response to the water situation expressed gratitude to the Fund for the support and said it was a relief, especially to women and children, who hitherto travelled far distances to access potable water when the one supplying the town and neighboring communities break down.
“We are very happy that our brothers, grandchildren who are on a journey have remembered us and decided to help us with this” he indicated.
He further stated that the citing of the borehole by the road side is an indication that it is the responsibility of everyone to take good care for it for the benefit of all.
