The modalities and timetable for the vetting of the various Deputy Ministerial candidates will be announced by Parliament’s Appointments Committee.
Last week, the President presented a list of Deputy Ministers to Parliament for ratification and screening.
Although Parliament is in recess, House leaders gave their approval to the Speaker and the Committee to continue working on the list of candidates in earnest before the House returns on May 18, 2021.
The Appointments Committee is required to invite public petitions and memoranda on the candidates before beginning public hearings.

There were 39 deputy ministers appointed across 24 portfolios in total.
Women account for ten of the nominations.
Hassan Tampuli and John Ampontuah Kumah were among the first-time Members of Parliament on the list.
Several ministers, including Abena Osei-Asare at the Finance Ministry, Mohammed Amin Adam, William Owuraku Aidoo at the Energy Ministry, Osei Bonsu Amoah at the Local Government, Decentralisation & Rural Development Ministry, and Tina Mensah at the Health Ministry, held their portfolios from President Akufo-first Addo’s term.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence that “just as it was done with his Ministers, Parliament will, on a bipartisan basis, expedite the confirmation of his Deputy Ministerial candidates, so they can enter the Government forthwith, and assist in the delivery of his mandate for his second term in office,” according to a statement from the presidency.
