Owing to bad weather in the Ashanti Regional capital, PassionAir‘s flight from Accra to Kumasi had to be redirected to neighboring Côte d’Ivoire, according to the company’s management.
The diversion was “required as the welfare of our customers, staff, and equipment is paramount,” the local airline said in a statement.
PassionAir flight OP152 departed Accra at 17:45 for Kumasi on Saturday, April 17, 2021, but was unable to land at the destination airport.
The company explained that the flight crew was forced to land at the “planned alternate airport” – Félix Houphouët Boigny International Airport in Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan) due to changing weather conditions.
It did, however, express regret to its consumers for the inconvenience.
“All PassionAir flights are operated to the highest safety requirements, in accordance with the GCAA’s stringent regulations. We apologise for the disruption this has caused,” the statement continued.
