Most upcoming artists are not inspired to follow Highlife since the genre is steadily losing its relevance, according to rising Afrobeats female sensation Kimmy.
Numerous music industry stakeholders have urged the preservation of the Highlife genre, especially among upcoming artists, with a proposed financial package to assist them.
However, the aspiring singer believes that the best way to get into the music business quickly is to pursue other international styles such as Dancehall, Hip-hop, and Afrobeats, among others.

“Many aspiring musicians are searching for a quick break in the music business, and if you want to do Highlife, you would not be quickly recognized.
“Following the latest music trends in the country remains the greatest ticket to success for many young and upcoming female artistes, but the prospects in pursuing Highlife are very restricted,” she said in an interview.
In addition, considering how tough the market remains, Kimmy is hopeful about her prospects of achieving a big breakthrough.
Kimmy is currently marketing her debut song, “Yonko,” a calming Afrobeats track.
