Prof. Mohammed Salifu, Director-General of the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), says collaborations in the sector are a key strategy for fostering tertiary education in Ghana.
Prof. Malcom McIver, the Provost of Lancaster University-Ghana, paid him a courtesy call at his office and informed him of this.
Prof. Mclver took advantage of the chance to congratulate Prof. Salifu on his nomination as Director-General, which he thought was well-deserved.
Prof. Mohammed Salifu provided an outline of the current body, GTEC, which is the product of the merger of the former National Council for Tertiary Education and the National Accreditation Board.
Prof. Mclver, for his part, told his host about Lancaster University – Ghana’s decision to extend its operations in the country by shifting to a larger campus and diversifying its portfolio by including STEM and vocational programs.

GTEC supports Lancaster’s new path, according to Prof. Salifu, since it is in line with the government’s transformative agenda and would place Ghana as a provincial center for tertiary education.
He also claimed that GTEC is ready to assist in the development of private tertiary education institutions in Ghana in order to offer them a voice.
Lancaster University – Ghana is the Ghana campus of Lancaster University, UK and a member of the Transnational Academic Group. Over the past seven years, they have been working in Ghana.
