Betway’s community outreach scheme, Betway Up, which was launched to uplift sports teams in Ghana, has given different types of support to football and basketball teams in the Central Region.
The basketball and football teams were chosen from towns across the Central Region and obtained instruction in physical science, coaching, and health, as well as a gift of equipment from Betway.
Balls, shin guards, and bibs were among the items given.
The neighborhood project in Cape Coast is the newest operation in the ‘Betway Up’ campaign, which began last month with funding for amputee teams.
Stephen Appiah, a Betway ambassador and former Black Stars captain, led a session on “Coaching Guidance and Preparation” with the assistance of Elmina Sharks Head Coach Odartey Lamptey and Basketball Coach Meme Falconer, while Dr. Imam Abdul-Moomin led a session on “Sports Science.”
The teams were also brought to realistic sessions at the Glow Camp Soccer Stadium and the Cape Coast Stadium Basketball Court in addition to the classroom presentations.
After the program, Betway Ghana’s Country Manager – Marketing, Kwabena Oppong-Nkrumah, spoke to the media and reaffirmed Betway’s huge commitment to sports growth in the country.

“At Betway, we’ve always invested in promoting sports growth, and our CSR efforts have focused on that.”
“A number of the programs we’re doing here today are aimed at empowering them at the grassroots stage,” says the speaker. These programs are typically still seen at the national team stage, but we have seen the desire to get them down to the neighborhoods.
“If we keep moving in this direction, a lot of people will prosper,” he said.
Many other societies are set to reap from the “Betway Up” campaign, which is Betway’s CSR push for the year 2021, according to the online betting agency.
