When a Mercedes Benz saloon car rammed into a stationary truck on the Spintex Road, three people were burned beyond recognition and two others were rescued.
The Accra Regional Police Command’s Head of Public Affairs Unit, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra.
The body had been taken to the Police Hospital Morgue for identification and examination, she explained.
The suspect driver of the Benz, as well as another passenger, were rushed to the LEKMA Hospital in critical condition, according to DSP Tenge.
She stated that on Saturday, March 20, 2021, at approximately 1220 hours, the Okpoi-Gonno District Police were notified of an accident on the Spintex Road, near the Fashion City Furniture building, involving a DAF Truck with the trading number GT 3848-D, a Nissan 4×4 Estate car number GT 8558- 20 and a Spark Saloon car number GN 3863-20 and a Spark Saloon car number GN 3848 D traveling in opposite directions.

Mrs Tenge said the suspect truck driver lost control of the rig, which landed in the middle of the road with the shipping container it was carrying.
She went on to say that as the police were controlling traffic and making room for the National Road Safety Authority workers to move the container out of the way, the Mercedes driver missed all the warning signals and crashed into it (the container).
The Mercedes Benz saloon sedan, which had five passengers and no identification number, caught fire, and the driver and one passenger were saved with the help of the Ghana National Fire Service and the police.
The three others, she said, were absolutely burned.
She claimed that the two cars had been impounded pending further inquiry.
