Gunshots were seen from the Presidency, Jubilee Building, on Wednesday morning.
It’s unclear what caused the gunfire, but residents near the presidential palace said they heard gunshots from inside the enclave.
The Presidency’s staff has declined to comment on the incident.
However, further investigation by 3news.com revealed that the shots were fired from weapons used in rehearsals by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) ahead of the 64th Independence Celebrations.
According to 3news.com, this year’s independence celebrations will be held on the forecourt of the Jubilee House with a few officers due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For the first time in Ghana’s history, the celebrations were held in Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region.
