The fishing town of Elmina in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality has fast grown to become one of the hottest spots for community spread infections of the corona virus in the central region.
The central region currently stands third on the distribution table of regions with most recorded cases with 192 confirmed infections. Elmina is reported to have recorded more cases of the virus and the municipal health directorate says it is working to contain the spread and ensure the safety of residents.

In a press release signed by the Municipal Director of Health for the KEEA,
Mrs Catherine Ampah Brient, said the assembly “through its Public Health Emergency Management Committee has taken steps to make contact with all affected persons to inform them of their status and make the necessary arrangement to initiate appropriate treatment”
The statement however, assured “all people of KEEA Municipality that is still safe to go about our daily normal activities and also visit any health facility”
