A 75-year old man, Kofi Abasa has died following a clash between three royal gates at Gomoa Nyanyano.
Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police command, Sargent Isaac Evans Ettie said, the clash was caused by a misunderstanding among the three gates over the rightful heir to the throne
Speaking to the media Sgt. Ettie reported that ”on February 28, 2021 about 7am the Gomoa Nyanyano district police received report that some group of young men from the Nyanyano Royal family were in the process of installing a new chief after the death of the late chief but the rest of the Royal family were against the installation and that led to the royal fight”.

“Police proceeded to the crime scene and brought the situation under control but one Olivia Bonus reported to the police that in the course of the fight, her 75-year-old uncle, Kofi Abasa was shot and had been rushed to the Kasoa health post for treatment but was pronounced death on arrival by the medical doctor. No arrest have been made so far but the body was conveyed to the police mortuary for preservation and autopsy. Police patrols has been intensified in the area. Investigation is still ongoing”.
However, intelligence gathered by the police has led to the arrest of suspect Awudu Giwa alias ‘Sareki Kpakpo’ in connection to the murder case.
He has been cautioned and would be arraigned before the Kasoa District Court on March 2, 2021.
