In commemoration of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare’s first 100 days in office, the Bureau of Public Safety released a survey indicating that 56% of Ghanaians have confidence in the new Police Administration.
According to the survey, 37% remained neutral, while 7% expressed lack of trust in the new administration.
Additionally, the survey found that 59% believe the Ghana Police Service has improved in the last 90 days, compared to 36% who believe things have remained the same, and 6% who believe there has been no improvement.
Concerning police response to crises, 53% of respondents said that the police responded too slowly, while 16% stated that they did not respond at all.
Additionally, 2% said that the Police reacted sooner than anticipated, while 29% stated that they were practically on time.
The bureau in the summary said, “we are minded by the fact that this survey will provide hints and lead into the general opinion of the public on safety and security cum police performance.”
“Responses from the survey also throws light on policing aspects that the Ghana Police Service will need to focus attention and resources on in the short to medium term, if not the long term. Overall, the survey polled responses from 583 respondents,” it added.
According to the bureau, the entire report will be released on November 30.

Dr. Dampare was sworn in as IGP on October 8 after two months in an acting capacity.
Ghanaians reacted positively to his appointment.
He formerly served as the Ghana Police Service’s Director-General in charge of Administration.
