Four security employees detained in Bole for stealing during a raid at Koundanlgou have been charged.
Assistant Inspector of Immigration Joseph Awuku Kumi, 39; Constable Christian Appiah Junior, 24; G/Constable Augustine Apraku, 28; and G/Constable Richmond Owusu Ansah, 30 are the four suspects.
According to the Savannah Regional Police Command, preliminary investigations have yielded sufficient evidence for the officers to be charged in order to serve as a warning to other security service professionals.
The officers were detained on Monday, November 29, 2021, for stealing some belongings from illegal miners.
The police said that once the individuals were apprehended, Constable Christian Appiah had GH4,135.
Constables Augustine Apraku and Richmond Owusu Ansah, on the other hand, were discovered carrying smartphones belonging to illegal miners.
Joseph Awuku Kumi, Assistant Inspector of Immigration, was discovered with a sum of $10,880.
The suspects are now in the custody of Savannah regional police, and the exhibits are being held for further investigation.
