The Odumase-Krobo Circuit Court in the Eastern Region has sentenced a 28-year-old private school pupil teacher to 12 years in prison with hard labor for defiling a class 3 pupil.
Enoch Amponsah entered a guilty plea to the allegation of defilement when he first appeared in court before His Honour, Kwase Apiatse Abaidoo.
Both the offender and the victim live in the same neighborhood.
The prosecutor stated that the victim went to classes on the weekends that were set up by her school. After the classes, her teacher, Enoch, dispatched her on an errand to one of their offices, whereupon he indulge her in a sexualintercourse.
It was discovered in court that he had told the victim not to expose the sexual encounter or else she would be flogged.

According to the prosecution, the teacher lured the victim back for many sexual encounters in his room on different days in October and November.
Her mother’s worries were heightened by her inability to walk. Following questioning, the victim revealed to her mother that she had been having intercourse with the Teacher, who goes by Sir Enoch.
The Mother’s formal report to the police resulted in his arrest and conviction.
In his confession, the convict acknowledged to defiling the victim five times.
Defilement is defined under Section 101 of the Criminal Offence Act, 1960 (Act 29) as follows: (1) For the purposes of this Act, defilement is the natural or unnatural carnal knowledge of a minor under the age of sixteen.
Anyone who carnally knows a female under the age of fourteen, with or without her agreement, commits a second-degree crime and faces imprisonment for a term of not less than twelve months or more than ten years if convicted.
In the same Municipality, Lower Manya Krobo, a Sodomy case involving a Private School teacher and a 14-year-old former student is currently pending.
