The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 258 Ghanaian nationals between 2021 and 2024 due to criminal convictions and immigration violations, according to newly released data from the agency.
The removals occurred across multiple U.S. cities, with Newark (25), New Orleans (23), Philadelphia (22), and Atlanta (21) among the locations where deportations took place.
A year-by-year breakdown shows a rising trend, with 56 Ghanaians deported in 2021, 46 in 2022, 62 in 2023, and 94 in 2024.
Ghanaians were not the only Africans affected, as ICE deported 417 Nigerians within the same period.
Meanwhile, Mexican nationals accounted for the highest number of removals, with 206,943 deportations.

ICE has intensified its immigration enforcement, particularly against individuals with criminal records, under policies aimed at protecting U.S. communities.
The agency recently carried out its largest single-day operation under President Donald Trump’s administration, arresting 956 individuals.
As of now, ICE has not released figures for 2025 deportations.
